For this fast paced, two day, hands-on workshop, the subject will be the terrain of the human face, in all of its beauty, subtle nuance, character and whimsy. Storytelling portraiture, on location and in the studio, is the objective. Control of the big three of light—quality, color and direction—will be at the forefront of the discussion. Crafting wonderful light under the pressure of time is something all photographers encounter on a regular basis, and this workshop will scale-up our portrait skills in dramatic fashion. We will be working with portable flash, producing hard light and soft light via a great array of light shapers, in addition to working with gels. Joe McNally's Bio:

Acclaimed, award-winning photographer Joe McNally is known worldwide as the quintessential “pro’s pro;” an extremely versatile, deeply experienced assignment photographer whose jobs have brought him to over 70 countries and counting. McNally is often described as: Authentic, empathetic and articulate, an exceptionally skilled technical photographer who pairs extraordinary camera know-how with a vivid imagination and an ongoing, vibrant creativity. Always curious, always adapting to the conditions at hand and the relentless advances in camera technology, he has photographed five cover stories for the National Geographic (amongst an overall fifteen coverages), and seven covers of LIFE Magazine.
